Aery - Flexible Squares
I made an LJ "version" of this layout for anyone interested. It's not an exact copy, because I haven't found a layout compatible to blanket over at LJ, but I've put much work in it nonetheless. I also decided to not put a header on, because in my opinion it didn't fit with the rest of the layout. If you want one nonetheless, I left the header properties in the code. If you have any questions, need help or want to tell me you like it, feel free to leave a comment. :)

One thing beforehand, though. I usually code exclusively for firefox because honestly, IE is hell for anyone doing web design and I usually try to not care for IE users. Yet, I always try to make it look at least acceptable in IE. Since IE is very buggy, there's always minor differences, especially in means of margins and paddings. Feel free to download Firefox to enjoy layouts the way they're supposed to be. ^^

Layout: Flexible Squares
Browsers: Firefox 3.6, IE 8
Navbar: Yes
Customized Comments/Tags/Archive Pages: Yes
Resolutions: 1024x768, 1280x800, 1440x900
Credit: [personal profile] heylove

You can see a live preview with customized calendar, comment pages and everything here or if you prefer an image preview simply click on the pic.

>> Please upload the images to your on server/imagehost: Image1 | Image2

PLEASE NOTE: Since there is no header, you'll have to put the navgation links into the "linklist" which can be found in the customization area. Again, if there are any questions, feel free to ask. :)

When I first came over here, I made a memory of this post:

She explained how I could get my Smooth Sailing layout that I prefer and use, and also Flexible Squares, which I have here but do not use. The Flexible Squares looks exactly like it does on LJ and imports with the default light blue scheme I believe.

This is not what you mean? I looked on the demo and was confused.

I'm very sorry, but not sure what you mean... ^^ I made the layout above as a request for someone and thought I'd share. It was made specifically for Livejournal, not Dreamwidth. I made a similar one for DW, though. the link is in the first paragraph. :)

The entry you linked to is about importing the base layers of certain LJ Themes like Flexible Squares, etc. They import with the basic layout for the chosen theme (in case of Flexible Squares it must be the light blue one). the layout above is not a layer, it's just a layout to put on a layer. I'm not sure if it works with an imported layer here on DW, but it certainly must do to some extend. ^^

Question: do you have an lj handle that I should credit or should I just use this one?

Thanks again!

not really, no. only the testing journal. it's fine the way you did it. ^^

you're very welcome, dear! *hugs* I'm really happy you like it. ^^

the only thing I noticed on your LJ is that you do not have the general links like "recent entries", "archive", etc. is that intentional? because you could add them to the linklist as well. :)

Thank you so much for sharing this! I love it and I'm using it in both lj and dw, to different rates of success, I have this weird brown box at the top of the page in lj and I was wondering if you could help me get rid of it, I've tried moving things around to no avail [I'm lusse_kun at lj]
I would really appreciate you help.

also, I hope you don't mind that I changed the background image, I can change it back if you want :P

Re: ♥
hey there! I think the weird brown box you refer to is from the lj ads which are displayed on each page. you cannot remove them with css (mine or other), I'm afraid. the only way to block them, literally, is with the adblock plus element hiding helper along with adblock plus. the catch is that it will be invisible to you only; for others it will be gone only when they've installed and activated the addon as well. you can download both here:/

no problem with the background, the code's not set in stone after all. ;) I would love it, though, if you could credit me somewhere (preferably on your profile), so other people can find the layouts as well. thanks. :)

Re: ♥
Thank you for taking the time to answer me ^^ I appreciate it.
I thought it was the ads causing trouble, and, since I have adblock, it would explain why I only see a brown box with nothing in it. so annoying, but well, nothing to do.
Oh! of course! I totally forgot/wasn't sure where to put it.
Thanks again!
